George H Taylor was born in Willinston, Virginia in 1821. He was mainly self taught and began teaching in his area before the age of eighteen. He was successful in his early career and soon became the school superintendent. George was not even twenty one years old yet and was suffering from health issues that weren't understood, he began to pursue the answers himself. He studied at Harvard medical department and graduated from New York Medical College. He started his career at New York City Water cure, a hydropathic institute. In 1960 he wrote the Exposition of the Swedish Movement cure, he felt is was crucial to understand anatomy and physiology. He also helped to divide Ling's movements into Purgative and Quieting types. He's most credited for his work using osteopathic treatment to cure hernia's without surgery.
