Marie Curie, born Maria Sklowdowski, was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1867. She was a physicist, Chemist, and a pioneer in radiation. Her parents were both educators, they pushed their daughters educations as well. Marie graduated first in her class from high school at the age of fifteen. She became a governess at seventeen to help support her sister pursue an education in France. Soon after, Marie went to college in France as well and lived in a small apartment. She went by Marie to seem more French. To afford her education and shelter, she often ate very poorly but her sacrifice was worth it as she focused on her studies. She met Pierre Curie in school, he was already a very bright man. They married in the summer of 1895. By 1898, Marie had come up with the term "radioactive" as they worked to discover Polonium (Named after Poland) and Radium. George H Taylor was born in Willinston, Virginia in 1821. He was mainly self taught and began teaching in his area before the age of eighteen. He was successful in his early career and soon became the school superintendent. George was not even twenty one years old yet and was suffering from health issues that weren't understood, he began to pursue the answers himself. He studied at Harvard medical department and graduated from New York Medical College. He started his career at New York City Water cure, a hydropathic institute. In 1960 he wrote the Exposition of the Swedish Movement cure, he felt is was crucial to understand anatomy and physiology. He also helped to divide Ling's movements into Purgative and Quieting types. He's most credited for his work using osteopathic treatment to cure hernia's without surgery.
